Bobbin Lace was brought to Brazil generations ago by Portuguese settlers. It became distinctively “Brazilian” when the vibrant colors and patterns arose.
The “rendeiras,” or lace makers in Brazil use organic tools such as coconut bobbins, cacti needles, and a bolster stuffed with dried banana tree leaves. Some of our pieces are made with organic silk from Brazil that is dyed with nature’s gifts such as mate’ leaves and onion skins.
Our unique, handmade pieces make thoughtful gifts that help spread the spirit of this passionate, resourceful community around the world. By supporting Fairloom in its endeavors, you will also be enabling Brazilian families to provide themselves with quality education, health, and better living and working conditions.
